Winter_Blog_Thumb

The winter season is basically upon us, and, living in Northeast Ohio, we all experience the brutal season and harsh conditions. But our vehicles definitely take the brunt of the snow and sleet, and winter driving causes accidents and inconvenience for everyone. Greenwood Chevrolet in Austintown is here to provide you with some essential tips to help make your commute in the brutal weather a little more manageable.

With heavy snowfall and frigid nights creating icy roads, the first thing to do is check your tires for tread as well as making sure they’re properly inflated for better traction. Accelerating and decelerating gradually and not slamming down on either the gas or brake will also allow more traction for your tires. You should also make sure your engine fluids are topped-off.

Another clear, simple, but very necessary tip to safely navigate winter driving is to slow down! Increasing your following distance to six to eight feet allows room for error in case something happens out of your control, such as sliding on ice. You should also utilize the traction control button if your vehicle has one. In winter conditions, make sure you always have it on.

Avoiding hills, both up and down, will save you from unnecessary driving stress. The risk of sliding and losing control or getting stuck while going uphill is increased if you’re going too fast and then have to slam on the brakes. Avoid hills whenever possible and find an alternative route to your destination.

Another suggestion for safe driving is to try not to stop your vehicle unless you have to. Coming to a complete stop makes it harder for you to get moving when there is ice or snow under your tires. When your car is in motion, it will be easier for you to get going and not have to firmly press the gas pedal.

The last set of tips we have for you is to plan ahead! Planning the day before, checking the weather and ensuring you give yourself enough time, will help you get to where you need to be. Getting up early in cold, frigid weather is never fun, but be sure to set an alarm and start your car in advance. Warming the car up to melt ice or frost on the windows as well as removing any snow from the car will improve your driving experience giving you more clarity and a better view. It’s important to take your time, slow down, and be cautious of your surroundings during the winter season.

Man_Washing_Car

You’ve finally taken the steps to purchase or lease a Chevrolet vehicle, and have driven off the lot in the car of your dreams. Now, the only thing left to do is take care of it. As soon as you leave the dealership in your new vehicle, you can begin accumulating dirt, dust, bugs, and other stains on your vehicle that will only grow with time. Needless to say, keeping your car washed is critically important, especially with the fall and winter months approaching. This process is easy to overlook, but we are here to offer some effective strategies to properly wash your car.

Benefits

Aside from having a clean and shiny car, there are some major benefits to cleaning your car regularly. Your vehicle should be washed at least once every two weeks, depending on how often and far your commute is and the weather you’re driving in. Washing your car regularly can prevent damage, improve the overall condition, help with safety, create better value over time, and extend the life of the car. Besides the physical benefits, some mental benefits include a feeling of accomplishment as well as being clean and organized.

Taking it to a Car Wash

Now you might be thinking, “Can’t I just take my car to an automatic car wash and get the job done within minutes?” Of course you can, but the feeling and outcome is not going to be as good as doing it yourself. When washing the car yourself, you have total control over the entire process, and therefore less chance of getting any scratches on your vehicle. You will also have a stronger sense of accomplishment, having done the cleaning yourself. Taking your car to a car wash can also become pricey over time, as you have to pay each time you go or pay for a membership. With washing your car at home, you will likely have to make a one-time purchase for all of the gear you need. If you do, however, opt to go to a car wash, we recommend going to a self-service wash so you can have more control of the process like at home.

The Process

When washing your vehicle, there is a process and some items you’ll need to purchase. You are going to need a water hose, multiple buckets, soap/car shampoo, wash mitts, a tire brush, and a couple microfiber towels to dry the car. Depending how well you want to fully detail the exterior of the vehicle, you might need wax, tire shine, bug remover mitts, and a soap gun. The step by step process for washing your vehicle is a relatively easy process to follow.

  1. Wash your car in a more shaded area with less sun keeping the car from drying too often and keeping the shampoo wet.
  2. Fill one bucket with water and soap or shampoo and another bucket with clean water to rinse your mitts and rags. Using a hose with a nozzle with high pressure is highly recommended. Thoroughly rinse the surface of the car to fully soak it from top to bottom. Once the car is wet and you’ve removed the first layer of dirt and dust, it’s time to get the mitts soapy and start scrubbing the vehicle. Remember to clean in small areas of the car and rinse frequently. Scrubbing softly in straight lines rather than a circle motion to loosely lift dirt off the paint of the car is recommended. In some areas such as the mirror caps, windshield, and front bumper you may need to scrub a bit harder due to the amount of bugs stuck to those areas. When rinsing the scrubbed area of the vehicle, make sure you change the setting of the hose to a less powerful mode, giving it less time to dry. When cleaning your wheels, use a brush to get inside of the wheel itself and inside the wheel wells. Scrubbing this area can be challenging to get the hard to reach areas and stronger dirt off of the tires.

  1. Once the car has been washed, scrubbed, and rinsed, it’s time to dry. Using a soft microfiber towel, remove the bulk of water still on the car. Then use a second microfiber towel to finish up any small areas, left over streaks, and water droplets. After the car is dry and has been sitting, you may use some final touches with products mentioned earlier such as wax and tire shine and use it to your liking.

This is the general step by step process and items you will need to successfully wash your car. We hope you enjoy the full benefits you’ll get from this experience. Always to remember to go the Extra Mile for your vehicle, so your vehicle can continue to go the Extra Mile for you!

Suburban_vs_Tahoe

Chevrolet is always looking to enhance their vehicles to make customers’ heads turn. The all-new Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe are designed to do just that. In 2020, these vehicles are two of the top performing SUVs on the road. As for 2021, they’ve stepped up to a whole new level with interior, exterior, and performance upgrades. The new molding of the rear and front of the two vehicles are bigger, better and bolder giving them a new, sleek appearance with sharper features to stand out on the road. To help you in your next SUV search, we’ve highlighted some of the key features in the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe.

Performance

Both the Suburban and Tahoe are very similar in performance and looks. Both are equipped with either a 5.3L or 6.2L engine, pushing between 350-420 horsepower. Both models now have an upgraded diesel engine and a 10 speed automatic transmission. They are also now equipped with a Four Corner Air Ride Adaptive Suspension System that is adjustable for the terrain you may be driving on. This is one of the biggest, newest upgrades for the vehicles, allowing the driver to adjust and adapt the vehicle to an unexpected area or terrain. This feature is able to raise the vehicle for more clearance and lower the vehicle to enhance dynamics. Also, the High Country and Z71 models have the ability to be lowered when parked, making it easier to get in and out.

Interior and Technology

Chevrolet offers top-of-the-line technology in all of its vehicles, with the Suburban and Tahoe being now exception. The two SUVs are equipped with the powersliding center console, adding extra storage and convenience for the front row seats. These vehicles also feature a rear seat media system, which includes two 12.6 diagonal LED HD touchscreen displays mounted on the back of the driver and passenger seats. The screens are able to share content between each other, keeping your passengers entertained. They both feature an upgraded wheelbase, making them longer but giving passengers additional leg room in the back two rows.

Safety

Safety is one of the top concerns for Chevrolet, and the new models include an available HD surround vision, providing a digital view of all angles of the vehicle. Along with the standard collision alert system, there is a new, safety alert seat that vibrates to alert the driver when getting too close to an object. All features are standard and available with upgraded models of the Suburban and Tahoe.

These vehicles offer everything you’ve come to expect from a Chevy SUV in terms of performance, technology, comfort, and safety. The vehicles come with ample storage space, and makes them perfect options for large families on the go. For more information on the Suburban or Tahoe, speak with one of Greenwood’s sales specialists. We’d love to go the Extra Mile for you!

Equinox_vs_Trax

The Trax and Equinox are both well-known vehicles in the Chevrolet line-up. The Equinox has been in the Chevy family since 2004, ranking second among Chevy vehicles in sales, while the Trax has been gaining traction and popularity since its release in 2013. The two SUV’s share quite a bit in common, including price and fuel economy, but have several features that put each in a lane of their own. Here are some of the features putting them a lap ahead of the competition.

Price

Price is an important part of the car buying process, and one of the first things you’ll notice when checking out the Trax and Equinox. These vehicles boast a similarly low price range making them a perfect option for those in search of a budget vehicle. The base model Equinox comes in at $23,800 to start while the Trax starts at $21,300. Even though these vehicles have low price tags, they’re not short on features as they come with all the options you’ve come to expect from Chevrolet models.

Technology and Features

Both vehicles are ahead of the competition with their technological features. Both offer a 7-inch touchscreen display, 12-volt outlet, bluetooth and USB connectivity, and standard cruise control. The Chevy team is committed to making sure you have an affordable vehicle with great features. Although both vehicles come with a number of awesome features, the Equinox has a few more, which justify its slight price increase. In addition to the features in both SUVs, the Equinox comes with a collision alert system and keyless start.

Engine and Fuel Economy

Although these vehicles are similar in size and price range, the engines are different, offering different horsepower. The Equinox has a 1.5L 4-cylinder engine, with around 170 horsepower, and the Trax has a 1.4L EcoTech 4-cylinder engine, with around 138 horsepower. In terms of gas mileage, the Equinox and Trax do not differ, as each vehicle gets about 30 miles-per-gallon highway.

Here at Greenwood Chevrolet, the Trax and Equinox are two of our most popular vehicles based on the price, fuel efficiency, and the amount of upgrades and add-ons available with each vehicle. Many colors are available to choose from in all models. For more information about these two amazing SUV’s, get in touch with our sales team at 330-792-5252. We are ready to go the Extra Mile for you!

Trailblazer_vs_Blazer

Recently, Chevrolet has released the 2021 TrailBlazer, leaving many customers thrilled about the return of the popular SUV. With the Blazer having made its return to the Chevrolet lineup in 2019, it is pretty easy to confuse the two. Luckily, Greenwood has your back. While the two SUVs have quite a bit in common beyond the similar name, there are several areas where the two differ. We will highlight some key differences between the two vehicles and help you decide which one is right for you.

Size

At first glance, you will notice that the TrailBlazer is smaller in comparison to the Blazer. It has been deemed a compact SUV, whereas the Blazer is a crossover SUV. They both fill gaps between SUVs in Chevrolet’s SUV lineup. In terms of size, the TrailBlazer fits somewhere between the Trax and Equinox, and the Blazer bridges the gap between the Equinox and Traverse. Both have the capacity to seat 5 people, but the Blazer is more spacious and will allow more freedom and storage in the trunk area.

Fuel Economy

Chevrolet has placed an emphasis on fuel economy in their newer models, even for larger SUVs like the Blazer. The new TrailBlazer gets 28 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while the Blazer gets less at 21mpg city and 28mpg highway. Even though the Blazer’s fuel economy is lower than the TrailBlazer’s, it is still an efficient vehicle. What the TrailBlazer lacks in size, it certainly makes up for in fuel efficiency as it gets more per gallon city and highway, saving you gas money in the process. This decision comes to preference between size and fuel efficiency.

Price

Price is always one of the most important factors when choosing a vehicle. Thankfully, both SUVs come in at affordable prices, making them both great options for Chevy drivers. The Blazer starts at an affordable $28,800. The base-model Trailblazer has an MSRP starting around $21,000, making both incredibly affordable options in the Chevy lineup.

At Greenwood Chevrolet, we know that the large selection of SUVs can make it hard to figure out which one is right for you. That’s why we’re here to go the Extra Mile for you to find an SUV that fits your needs at a price you can afford. Browse some of the features and inventory and contact us with any questions.

Thank you, Eric for being a loyal customer and Tim for being one of the fine sales consultants at Greenwood Chevrolet.

Greenwood Chevrolet is here to serve anyone in the market for a new or used vehicle. Kayla Nespeca just purchased a new 2020 Chevy Trax. Kayla wasn’t sure where she would go to look for her next vehicle upgrade, but her father told her to check out Greenwood Chevrolet because of the experience he had. She took his word for it, and it was the right decision for her. She worried about her budget, not knowing if she could get something new or big enough like she was hoping for. Kevin Lawson was her sales consultant who was very patient, friendly, and made her feel comfortable with her child by her side. Kevin made sure she was leaving the dealership in the car she wanted! He focused on getting Kayla into something affordable, stylish, and spacious enough for her and her child. That’s exactly what happened thanks to Kevin and Greenwood Chevrolet.

She works with Roger Thurman, who knows exactly what she wants, and has built a personal relationship with him and the finance manager at Greenwood. Silverado_Vs_Colorado

Chevrolet’s 2020 loadout is one of the best ever and their trucks were not slighted. The 2020 Chevy Silverado and Colorado are both fantastic vehicles with many options to fit the needs of every truck-lover. These top-of-the-line trucks will present a tough choice for consumers, as they’ll need to choose between a full or midsize truck. This can be a difficult decision, but Greenwood Chevrolet goes the Extra Mile to help you make the best choice for you. There are benefits to both trucks, so here are the main differences between them to guide you in the right direction.

Price

Both of these trucks are priced competitively compared to other pickups on the market. The Colorado is the midsized option, making it more affordable than the Silverado. The Colorado MSRP starts at $21,300 while the Silverado starts at $28,500. Both have very similar customization options, which proves that Chevrolet is determined to make sure that the vehicle you want has exactly what you need.

Towing Capacity

One thing truck owners always need in their pickup is ample towing capacity. You may not be using this on a daily basis, but whether or not you use it frequently, it is still important to know how much you can carry. The Silverado is the bigger of the two trucks, so it outperforms the Colorado in this instance. The 2020 Chevy Silverado has a towing capacity ranging from 6,600 to 9,800 lbs. Even though the Colorado can tow less, it can still get most jobs done with a towing capacity around 3,500 to 7,000 lbs., making it a valuable alternative.

Fuel Economy

For truck drivers, gas can get expensive. Chevrolet has worked to make truck driving affordable with both of these two vehicles. Surprisingly, the 2020 Silverado slightly outperforms the Colorado with its fuel economy, getting up to up to 23 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. The Colorado does not perform as well, but is still efficient, getting up to 20 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, making both great options in terms of fuel efficiency.

Both of these trucks are great options, and really come down to preference between a full or mid-sized truck. We hope this has helped you make your decision. Schedule and appointment or call Greenwood Chevrolet for more information today!

Disinfecting_Vehicle

With the coronavirus pandemic still lingering, Greenwood Chevrolet is taking the necessary measures to ensure all customers safety while on our property. During all face-to-face interactions with customers Greenwood employees will be wearing masks to protect themselves and the customers.

To keep the trend on the side of safety, appointments are encouraged, but not required. This will allow Greenwood to control how many people are on the dealership’s property at one time. The less people gathered in small spaces, the better we feel about preventing anything from happening. If you do not schedule an appointment, one of our salespeople will kindly escort you where you need to be so that no unnecessary contact is made with anyone. If you are to make an appointment we kindly ask that you make it only if you are a buyer or decision maker and come with only the necessary people who should be there.

We have also set up temporary workstations in our showroom. This will ensure that we are able to serve as many customers as possible while still maintaining safe distances. Communication in these temporary workstations will be as normal as they can be and each salesperson or dealership employee will do everything that they can to make you a satisfied customer.

If you are at one of our dealerships to look at a vehicle we ask that you stand six feet from the salesperson. We can assure you that you will have time to view the vehicle up close, but remember to keep a safe distance. We want to continue to serve everyone as best as we can and this will only help us do that. If any customer would like to test drive a vehicle they will fill out a rental agreement with the salesperson. The salesperson will not accompany you on the ride to keep them safe, as well as the customer.

To keep everyone safe at all times each and every car that is viewed, purchased, or taken for a demo drive will undergo our newly designed Safe Deliver Process or Safe-to-Inventory Process. During these processes we will thoroughly clean and disinfect the vehicles to keep future owners, customers, and employees safe.

During this time Greenwood Chevrolet will also have special hours of operation. We will be open Monday through Friday from 9am-6pm. Saturday 9am-4pm. We will also have special hours of operation for the elderly and those that are most vulnerable during this time. We will be open for these specific groups on Monday through Friday 9-10am and Saturday 9-10am. We hope that everyone is staying safe and healthy during this time and Greenwood Chevrolet will continue to go the Extra Mile for you!

2020_Chevrolet_Silverado

There are many things that make the 2020 Chevy Silverado the best yet. Even features that come standard make this truck stand out beyond the competition.

People love to drive their trucks. It’s a fact. In the 2020 Silverado Chevrolet made this the most enjoyable and safe ride you can take. Designed specifically for trucks, the 2020 Silverado LT comes standard with the 2.7L Turbo Engine which maximizes mileage, horsepower, torque, and range. Because this engine was specifically built for a truck it suits all drivers needs for the best price. Whether you are driving on the job, to and from work, towing/hauling, or traveling for fun stopping and interrupting your adventures will not be an issue because the range on this engine is 552 miles.

Many Silverado’s from the LT up to the High Country editions will come with a remote stop and start option. Nobody wants to get into a freezing car from November through March and this feature will allow each Silverado owner to never have to do this. Ice on the windshield won’t be a problem either due to the remote start and stop. This feature alone won’t get rid of everything annoying about winter driving but the heated power outside mirrors will take care of the rest. This feature will defrost mirrors in the cold icy months to make travel safer and easier.

Safety is a concern for Greenwood and Chevrolet and that was also taken into consideration with the 2020 Silverado. Every Silverado comes standard with a rear vision camera. This will ensure the safety of your truck as well as anyone else on the road or in parking lots. The rear vision camera will allow drivers to easily see behind them when backing up and assist in parking in any spot.

Backing up can be an issue with new drivers. The rear camera alone doesn’t take away all worries of letting your newest driver take on the road in your new Silverado but Chevy can eliminate all worries with new drivers to ensure their safety. With the teen driver technology owners can limit speed or alert drivers when the truck reaches too high of a speed. There are also volume limiting features that will help your teen driver focus. Not wearing a seat belt is not a problem for your teen driver because the teen driver feature will mute all audio until all front seats are buckled and your teen driver won’t be able to shift out of park for 20 seconds if the front seats aren’t buckled. If you are still worried about your teen driver Chevy can also send a teen driver report card to ensure you know what is going on when you aren’t around.

The 2020 Chevy Silverado comes standard with many of these features which make it the superior truck on the market today. Upgrades are available which improve the vehicle but these standard specs make the truck stand out on its own. With the 2020 rendition of the Silverado, Chevy took everything you could want in a vehicle from a fun smooth driving experience to safety not just for you but everyone else on the road.
